Description and Learning Objectives
The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics, with its two related curricula favouring respectively
1) a perspective linked to the formation of corporate and managerial skills;
2) a direct perspective to the development of economic expertise, aims to train graduates in the use of appropriate skills to deal with international degree courses and/or facilitate their work placement in companies, consulting firms, law firms and public administrations.
The course is entirely taught in English.
The programme is articulated into three years. The first two academic years share a basis of common training courses. On the third year, students can choose between two different curricula, Business Administration or Economics.
Graduates in our programme will acquire:
– knowledge of methods of analysis and critical interpretation of the structures and dynamics of the company, by acquiring the necessary skills in multiple subject areas: economic, business, legal and quantitative;
– adequate knowledge of business disciplines, which represents the core for both functional areas (management, organization, recognition) and types of companies from various sectors (manufacturing, trade, services, public administration);
As for specific objectives of vocational training and employment opportunities, it is possible to carry out external activities with internships in companies and public or private national and international organizations.
The specific educational objectives of inter-CDL (L33 and L18) in Business Administration and Economics is to prepare graduates to perform:
1- a technical role in the management of national and international businesses useful to identify and address
2- specific problems in the field of the best companies, according to a systemic perspective consistent with an international organisational and/or multinational environment;
3- a role of reader and interpreter of micro and macroeconomic phenomena compared with a prospect of both market and institutional dynamics and real phenomena currently prevailing in the international economy.
Graduates will acquire the appropriate skills for the interpretation and management of competitive settings, characterised by rapid technological innovation processes. Such graduates will thus fit well as an operator in multinational companies and innovative SMEs, with qualifications for industry analysis, business development and expertise in corporate strategy, business consulting, technology auditing, managing of intellectual property rights, and an expertise in technology transfer, among others.
Through an interdisciplinary teaching offer, the course also trains professionals to operate in the area of business consulting, in particular, in the context of professional services such as accountants or labour consultants. Placement is encouraged, also, in business management areas, particularly in operational ones, those of control, and areas of human resources.
The curriculum in English reinforces students’ profiles by supporting the internationalization of the firm, when it is a national one.
The strength and characteristic trait of the proposed training offer is to respond effectively to the need for a solid education of professionals of intermediate type who could be placed amongst public and private organisational decision-makers at the international level.
